New York Post: Mom becomes 1st New Yorker to benefit from new custody laws
Just two days after the state’s highest court expanded the definition of a parent to include caretakers who did not officially adopt or do not have biological ties to their children, a Manhattan mom, Kelly Gunn, was the first to benefit from the new ruling in a custody case.
Gunn’s attorney, Nancy Chemtob, said her client has been involved in the boy’s life since he was adopted from Ethiopia in 2011. “The child believes he has two parents. He loves them both,” Chemtob said.
