Nancy Chemtob

Nancy Chemtob, Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda’s founding and managing partner, is widely recognized as one of New York’s leading matrimonial and family law attorneys. A skilled negotiator, Nancy’s primary goal is to secure advantageous settlements for her clients through negotiation. But when negotiation ceases to be a viable option, Nancy is a seasoned litigator who calls upon her decades of experience to best position her clients for success at trial. Nancy’s talent for identifying and capitalizing upon a case’s most decisive facts is unrivaled and her record of courtroom success is a testament to those skills.

Nancy understands that, in the area of matrimonial and family law, producing desired results for her clients means more than simply “running the numbers.” The stakes are very high and the outcomes can be felt for decades because the issues involved in a matrimonial matter touch upon the most important aspects of life, from clients’ ability to create the lives they want for themselves financially to the intricacies of their children’s custody schedules.

Nancy is a passionate advocate, but her clients quickly discover other important traits: fierce determination, unwavering loyalty, complete discretion and a depth of compassion that manifests itself not only in her empathy but also in her unusual accessibility. A rarity among her peers, Nancy provides her personal cell phone number to her clients and encourages them to use it as necessary. Whether it is in connection with the conclusion of an amicable pre-nup, navigating a complex financial trial, or participating in an emergency custody hearing, it is Nancy’s strong belief that, because her clients’ needs are not limited to office hours, her own accessibility shouldn’t be either.

Nancy is frequently called upon by leading institutions and publications to comment on issues of matrimonial and family law. She has been a guest lecturer at forums such as the Harvard Law School and Citrin Cooperman, a Mock Trial Judge at Yale University, and has been quoted or profiled in publications such as The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, Newsday, Town & Country, Vanity Fair, Hamptons Magazine, The New Yorker, Business Insider, Financial Times, People Magazine, and the Atlantic.

An authority on family law, Nancy has testified in out-of-state cases as an expert on New York matrimonial and family law, and has been retained as a consulting attorney on complex matrimonial cases in other jurisdictions.

Nancy’s leadership has contributed to CMFB being named among the best law firms in America in the thirteenth edition of U.S. News & World Report – Best Lawyers ranking in the Metropolitan/New York City/Family Law category.

Among her professional accomplishments, Nancy is especially proud to have served as the attorney of record in many groundbreaking cases in which she was responsible for making or changing New York State family law:
